FOCUS ON ... and the Dynamo scholarship 2016 goes to... FOUR!

02/25/2017

With this motivation the Swedish Arts Grants Committee awarded Hanna Liljenberg, Karin Roy Andersson, Linnéa Eriksson and Malin Lövgren, the artists behind Four, the Swedish Arts Grants Committee’s Dynamo scholarship 2016 for their accomplishments in order to support Swedish craft.

‘Since 2010 the gallery, the shop and Four’s different cooperation projects has contributed to an establishment of contemporary jewellery as an independent and vital art scene in Göteborg. The extensive program with both international and Swedish artists has created an important contact with the global art jewellery field, and formed a stepping-stone for a new generation of artists.’

The northern Europe is once again showing its strong support to the craft field and we would love to congratulate with the team on the great accomplishment!

The scholarship will be used primarily to move the gallery in a more central location of Göteborg, very close to a number of other art galleries.

The concept and the artistic approach will be the same - showing a diverse program with some of the highlights of contemporary jewelry.

After an exhibition dedicated to the delicate Flóra Vági they will make a retrospective showing the 10year career of Benjamin Lignel, whose work carries a sharp, but often also affectionate humour and it comments on appearance, body image, and gender belonging.

The program of the year will continue between exhibitions and research projects involving different artists and designers coming to share and create by mixing and matching knowhow, techniques and expertise, like the German based artists Attai Chen and Carina Shoshtary who will work together with the Karin Roy Andersson, Hanna Liljenberg, Sanna Svedestedt Carboo and Åsa Christensson on a project that will be shown and partly executed at Four.

In May the gallery will host the South Korean artist Yojae Lee who creates insects in a size that changes the relationship to the wearer, robotic creatures are both captivating and terrifying. By mixing different types of metals and leather her artwork captures you both figuratively and literally.

In the fall three solo shows will follow: Mia Maljojoki and her work made of both spontaneous and well directed creative instinct, Tanel Veenre combining musical tones with aesthetics and poetry, creating a magical, magnetic world that attracts and captivates, and Karin Johansson, who holds lightness and weight, playfulness and gravity, spontaneity and carefully balanced planning.

Good luck!
