EXHIBITION A/dornment @ BLoft - Milano Design Week 2017

The collaboration between A/dornment, Bloft and Gumdesign continues with the aim to bring contemporary jewelry beyond its field to raise awareness in an ever-growing public, by showing research and production of those artist and designers working in this area.

On the occasion of the Milan Design Week 2017 Adornment and BLoft once again joint forces to support creativity and independent design.

The curatorial choice aims at presenting a selection of jewelry artists and designer who develops their research focusing on the volumes, developing original shapes while challenging the space in different ways.

The volume will be represented in its most diverse characteristics, emphasizing the various qualities of matter, such as flexibility in the creations of Rie Makino that uses the traditional Japanese method Furoshiki, encouraging who wears it to change the shape of the jewel, or multiplication, a special feature of the work of María Eugenia Muñoz Curbelo, leading to Milan a playful and ironic version of pendants-colored kaleidoscopes by multiplying the volume of reality through a dreamy look.

The relationship with space is mainly played by the contrasts between fullness and emptiness in Susanna Baldacci and Tal Efraim pieces: the first focusing on geometric and Impressionistic scenes, while the second, abstract and kinetic looking, is engaged in devising its own alphabet of signs.

The knitting, developed in different sizes, marries the technique and style of two artists with different outcomes, but characterized by a common approach: Wing-han WONG challenges the look through the illusion of perspective of hand knitting threads, creating colorful, complex and delicate, geometric compositions, while the work of Aviv Kinel is characterized through a meticulous and slow work developed only in flat dimension, recovering the tradition and creating ethnic and tribal jewelry.

Flat size is also developed in the work of Giulia Savino, which explores the space conceptually through the representation of lived and designed places.

Illusion and magnetism characterize the very unique work of Anne-Sophie Vallée, playing through small plastics and putting them in connection with the use of magnets, creating small animal and informal creations.

Displaced and proliferating geometries are characteristics of Izabella Petrut style, combining several matters and representing them between solid and fluid state.

Zeta Tsermou tackles the space in her pure and simple way, drawing volumes and thoughts with incisive graphic touch.

Plasticity and versatility belong instead to the incredible creations of Ria Lins, expertly made to fit the body movement.

Stenia Scarselli and Nicole Schuster draw spatial elements in their unique modular evolution, in a crescendo of complexity, different structures and elements.

Paola Mirai and Letizia Maggio renew and develop for the occasion some of their characteristic search paths. Paola associates stones and minerals to Orotrasparente, matter from her own invention, dressing it of precious items and investigating the idea of the space in a more spiritual and interior way, Letizia continues her technical and stylistic research on metals, further developing and characterizing toward an essential and vertical direction, leading to Milan for the first time the ‘5 noble truths' series of rings.

The exhibition will be held at Casa dello Zecchiere, in the heart of 5VIE District, in a strategic position in the heart of Milan, just a short walk from Sant Ambrogio, Duomo and Piazza Cordusio. An open-air museum with a rich cultural heritage, a crossroads of ateliers, workshops, craft shops, showrooms, concept stores and creative spaces that for some years now sees an exponential increase of visitors during the Milan Design week, and stands out as the district of the quality and originality.
